Jake Mentzel is the Lead Pastor of Church of the King in Newburgh, Indiana. An Evansville native, he returned home in 2020 to plant the church after nearly two decades serving as a campus pastor and discipleship pastor. His aim: preach the Word of God, speak honestly about who we are and the world we live in, and build strong families led by faithful dads and moms.

Jake believes long obedience builds generational strength. He wants to see a church rooted in the love of God and committed to Southern Indiana for decades to come.

Jake and his wife, Amanda, have been married since 2007 and are raising eight children. The Mentzels love Evansville, Newburgh, and the surrounding region and are invested here until every inch is taken for King Jesus.

Nathan Alberson serves as Executive Elder at Church of the King in Newburgh, Indiana. He joined the church in 2023 after more than a decade in ministry, including co-founding a Christian media company that produced podcasts, books, and digital content for a national audience.

At Church of the King, Nathan oversees discipleship and outreach. He works closely with Pastor Jake Mentzel to translate vision into execution.

Nathan is married to Meredith, and they have three children.

Scott Schutte serves as Operations Elder at Church of the King in Newburgh, Indiana. He oversees the practical systems and logistics that make weekly ministry possible. Scott ensures that what happens on Sundays and throughout the week runs smoothly, supports the church’s mission, and honors Jesus.

Scott and his wife Chris are raising five children and are deeply invested in the life of the church in Newburgh and Evansville.
